Alfred Neilsen / Mackay. Potters Stamp: Mauri Bros & Thomson / Sydney. (Queensland). Ginger Beer. Crown Seal. All white. Black Print. Dump. 10 oz. 188 mm. 1910s
Very Good. (7.4). Band of wear around the outer crown seal. Inner lip edge has a few spots of wear as well. A few tiny glaze flakes around the shoulder amongst some other very fine wear. Patch of rusty discolouration to upper right, there is one small glaze surface flake amongst this. Couple of other tiny surface glaze flakes around the body. 3 x 2 mm flake under front right base edge, there is a 5 mm hairline from this along the base edge. Line of rust under the base. 10 x 3 mm shallow flake to left rear heel, another sliver near this, both of which are likely potters pulls from making. Drip of thicker glaze down the right from making, where this nears the base edge there is a patch of wear on top of it. Some fine surface scratches and wear, nothing major. Overall, a great example of an extremely rare north Queensland ginger beer, the first we have sold. Estimate: $1500-2000
