Andrews / & Seddon. No potters mark. (Tasmania). Pottery. Campbells. Pottery bottle, embossed. Chocolate colour. 4 oz. 124 mm. 1880s
Repaired. (0). These were made at the Campbells pottery in Launceston and are a great piece of early Tasmanian made pottery. They come in a couple of sizes and some colour variations. Couple of spots of grime which will scrape off. Upper front left has a little nick through the glaze. Mid left has an impact nick through the glaze as well. Mid right has an 88 mm scratch through the glaze. Rear has some whiter patches, this is where the glaze hasn't stuck properly in making. There is a professional and very hard to detect repair along the front base edge, the front left base edge corner looks to have had a larger chip repaired which is also very hard to detect and would likely be missed by most. ALSO, was just about to finalise this description when something else caught my eye, a slight deviation to the glaze at the lower neck. Turn out, this has a new top on it as well! A correct top has been used - as in the original top to this piece which was damaged when it was unearthed. Looks mint on the shelf. Estimate: $20-40
